Having been a first-generation college student from a low-income background, I faced many challenges in my pursuit of higher education. These challenges made me stronger and set me on the path toward my vocation of helping all students succeed in higher education, especially those from under-served backgrounds. 

I really enjoy getting to know students and learning from them. My advising philosophy includes building trusting relationships so that I can better assess needs and strengths and provide holistic support. I have a bachelor of science degree in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and a master’s degree in Teaching from the University of St. Thomas.

Before coming to Normandale, I worked in TRIO Upward Bound at Dakota County Technical College, as an advisor at Augsburg University in TRIO Student Support Services, and in Advising at St. Olaf College.

I enjoy traveling and warm weather vacations, especially those that include a beach! When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog, especially taking outdoor walks and hikes! During the first winter of the pandemic, I took up cross-country skiing to try to embrace the Minnesota winters, while safely getting out of the house.
