About me:
As a First Generation College Student, it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to study in college. I liked a mixture of history, culture, psychology, current events and it wasn't until I watched the TV show "Bones" that I found out what Anthropology was! Anthropology encompasses a wide range of my interests and has helped me learn so much about myself as well as other people and cultures.
After taking a few years out of school, I went to Inver Hills Community College and received my A.A. with an emphasis in Anthropology. I then transferred to Minnesota State University, Mankato where I received my B.S. in Ethnic Studies with a minor in Anthropology. I also got the opportunity to study abroad in South Korea! During my time as a student at MSU, Mankato, I worked in the Multicultural Center and found out I really enjoyed peer advising, talking to prospective students about college, and being someone who supports others to get to their goals. I went on to receive my M.S. in Counseling and Student Personnel with a focus in College Student Affairs while working as a director in the Multicultural Center and interning with the Kearney International Center. And now, I'm an Academic Advisor at Normandale!
In my free time, I enjoy visiting the MN state parks and hiking (I'm a part of the Hiking Club and aim to complete all the trails!), watching anime, playing racquet sports, and spending time with family and friends.
I believe learning is a lifelong journey and I value creating a safe space for all.
I'm excited to get to know you and to be a part of your support system at Normandale!
