Chiharu Mikkelson
About me:
My name is pronounced “Chee-Ha-Roo.” I came from Japan as a first-generation international student to go to college. During graduate school, I discovered academic advising and loved working with students to help them navigate their journey in higher education as I remembered how lost I was when I started. I have been at Normandale for over 20 years and students continue to inspire me.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Communication from St. Catherine University, and Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota. In my free time, I like to read, walk, explore new restaurants and spend time with friends and family that includes a cat who likes to cuddle when they want to. I look forward to working with you!
