About me:
My academic journey into college began as a first-generation student from a working-class, African American neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. My family’s expectation for me was to earn a high school diploma and get a job. College was simply not a focus. Because of caring and committed teachers, counselors and supportive parents, I was encouraged to pursue college and became the first person in my family to complete a bachelor’s degree, which I earned in Accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I later earned a master’s degree in Africana Studies from Cornell University. With many years of professional experience in higher education, I am a seasoned advisor, teacher and facilitator, and a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. My life’s passion is helping individuals achieve their fullest potential through education. I am the co-author of Passport to College Success. In my spare time, I enjoy roller skating, yoga, reading, and community engagement.
